Fiber Node System One is a turnkey system containing everything you need to control and power four PTZ cameras over fiber, and cover a distance of up to 2 km. The system uses and intermediate and a far-away fiber optic hub to transport, monitor, and control the video and camera data while also remotely powering the camera. The system contains four lightweight hybrid cables plus camera converters, one per camera, for connection to the intermediate hub, and one heavy hybrid cable to the far-away hub to cover longer distances. No local power supplies for the cameras are needed.
Compact, efficient, and easy to deploy, Fiber Node System One is the smart all-in-one solution to unify four PTZ camera operations over long distances.
Fiber Node System One is compatible with:
• 3G SDI PTZ cameras with an Ethernet port to transport camera control data
• a camera control unit (CCU) with an Ethernet port to transport camera control data
PTZ cameras and a camera controller are not included in the bundle.
Fiber Node System One includes the following products, listed in order of distance from the camera — from nearest to farthest.
Fiber Node System One is designed to support 4 PTZ cameras. If you require fewer cameras, the bundle can be customized by adjusting the quantity of PTZ Monk and 2Core SM Hybrid cable accordingly. For example, a configuration with three PTZ cameras would require 3× PTZ Monk and 3× 2Core SM Hybrid cables. If you need a longer connection between the Fiber Node and Fiber Base, you can opt for a 150m or 200m SMPTE cable (PUW-FUW). All other components remain unchanged, as they are essential for the system’s core functionality.
The following section details each product and its specific function within the system.
4x PTZ Monk
PTZ Monk is the converter for the PTZ camera. Placed near the PTZ camera, it connects the camera to Fiber Node One via FieldCast Hybrid main cable. PTZ Monk converts 3G SDI video to fiber and also provides Ethernet over fiber and power output over fiber. The turnkey system contains 4x PTZ Monk, one converter for each PTZ camera.
4x 2Core SM Hybrid 100m on drum
This is the lightweight hybrid fiber optic cable that transports uncompressed SDI video over fiber, the Ethernet based camera control data, and the DC power out to your PTZ camera. One cable per camera, hence 4 cables for 4 PTZ cameras.
1x Fiber Node One
Fiber Node One is typically installed at a distance of up to 100 meters from the camera setup, in between PTZ Monk camera converter and the far-away-based Fiber Base One control station. Designed to work seamlessly with PTZ Monk and Fiber Base One, Fiber Node One functions as the intermediate node in a complete fiber node PTZ camera system.
Fiber Node One offers the following key functionalities:
1x SMPTE cable PUW-FUW 100m on drum
This cable is used to cover the long distance between Fiber Base One and Fiber Node One. It is a SMPTE 311M/304 hybrid cable capable of transmitting two channels of single-mode fiber optic signals along with AC power. AC power is used because it performs better than DC over long distances, experiencing significantly less voltage drop and power loss. While single-mode fiber can reliably transmit signals up to 40 km, power transmission is more limited. Using AC, the maximum effective distance for delivering power through the cable is approximately 2 km.
1x Fiber Base One
Fiber Base One is the long-distance hub for PTZ control over fiber. Installed at the farthest point from the camera setup—typically in an OB van or studio located up to 2 kilometers from the live event—Fiber Base One connects to Fiber Node One via a single SMPTE 311M/304 hybrid cable. Through this connection, it not only delivers power all the way to the stage but also manages video and control signals from the cameras.
